UN Russian Language Day - 6 June

The UN Russian Language Day is an annual celebration on the 6th of June. It was established by the UNESCO in 2010.

The day coincides with the birthday of Aleksandr Pushkin (6 June 1799 – 10 February 1837), the famous Russian novelist, playwright and poet of the Romantic era. Pushkin is regarded as one of the greatest Russian poets and is considered the founder of modern Russian literature.
