Apple launched the iPod U2 Special Edition on 6th June 2006. The device had a storage capacity of 30 GB with the signatures of the four members of the Irish group engraved at the back.
In contrast to the iPod music players before it, the Special Edition was black in color with a red coloured Click Wheel. People who bought the limited edition iPod could download 33 minutes of interviews and performances by U2 from the iTunes Store.
By the way, the “Artists” icon in Apple mobile music player app has the silhouette of Bono, the lead singer of U2 – at least that’s what most people think.
