CD (Compact Disc) was demonstrated by Philips for the first time on 8th March 1979. The technology was jointly developed by Philips and Sony. The first compact disc (CD) was released to the public on 17th August 1982. It was a recording of Chopin waltzes by artist Claudio Arrau. Later that year, Sony launched the world’s first CD player in Japan.
