The Mosaic web browser was released for the Windows platform on 11th November 1993. The program was created mainly by Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina who were working at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois.

The browser is known for popularising the world wide web which had been invented by Sir Tim Berners-Lee at CERN a couple of years back. Mosaic was originally developed for the Unix’s X Window System and later ported to other operating systems.
