Vega 1 craft takes photos of Halley’s Comet

On 4^th March 1986, the Vega 1 space probe sent photos of the Halley’s Comet back to Earth. The images included photos of the nucleus of the comet. Vega 1 had been launched by the Soviet Union on 15^th December 1984.
