Nuclear fission discovered by Otto Hahn

German chemist Otto Hahn discovered nuclear fission on 17^th December 1938. He had used the element uranium. For this and for the radiochemical proof he provided of the process, Hahn received the 1944 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and is regarded as the father of nuclear chemistry.
