Europe Day is an annual celebration in European countries that promotes peace and unity amongst them. It is observed on 5th May.
There are two “Europe Days” actually. One is celebrated on the 5th of May the day when the Council of Europe was founded in 1949. The other is four days later on 9th of May and honours the adoption of the Flag of Europe by the European Communities (now the European Union) to commemorate the Schuman Declaration of 1950.
The 9th of May is the more popular of the two Europe Days.
