On 31st July 2012, Microsoft renamed their popular email service Hotmail to Outlook.com. This was not the first time the service had been rebranded by the technology giant. The new Hotmail (now Outlook.com) interface was developed using the Metro design language also implemented by Microsoft on their operating systems Windows 8.
