Google claims 27 September as its birthday

Google claims 27^th September as its birthday. The popular search engine celebrated it for the first time in 1998. FYI, Google was incorporated on 2^nd September 1998 and the launched its IPO on 19^th August 2004.

Google’s name comes from the word “googol” which means 1 followed by one-hundred zeroes. The word was coined by 9-year old Milton Sirotta, the nephew of mathematician Edward Kasner. After brainstorming a name for their company, Larry Page and Sergey Brin decided on googol. Unfortunately, the dot-com was already taken so they registered google.com domain name on 15^th September 1997.
