The first Subway shop was opened on 28th August 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The now popular fast food restaurant franchise that sells submarine sandwiches and salads was started by Fred DeLuca who had borrowed $1,000 from a family friend Dr. peter Buck (also a founder of Subway).
