I am not able to successfully send emails to my son’s Hotmail email address from my embarqmail email address. I have been sending emails for years but recently he has not received my emails. I do not receive an error message nor do the emails I send come back……I don’t know where they are going. I have contacted Emabarqmail and they tell me the emails are going to the Hotmail address. I can receive emails from my son’s Hotmail address…..but he does not receive my emails. And, all my other emails are being delivered. Could you please advise as to what I need to do.

This is indeed a weird issue. The problem appears to be with one specific Hotmail account which is not receiving email. It would be impossible to provide a clear-cut solution and I can only offer general troubleshooting tips.

Let us start by looking at the Hotmail side of things since the Embarqmail account has no problem in sending emails to other accounts. And because neither an error message is displayed nor the email is returned, we’ll first go through the obvious:
- In the problematic Hotmail account, is the message being sent to the Junk e-mail folder automatically?
- Has the recipient created an automated filter that discards the email message from the Embarqmail account?
- Has the sender’s email address placed in the Blocked Senders list?
To ascertain whether the problem of not receiving email is with that one Hotmail account or with the entire service, I would send a message to another Hotmail account – heck, I would create a new Hotmail account just to check this out!
If things are fine on the troublesome Hotmail account, I would suggest speaking to Embarqmail support with the new information. And if this too doesn’t lead anywhere the last resort is to get a free email account from Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail and slowly ditch Embarqmail.
Lastly, please understand that Hotmail is one of the best email services in the world. It is unlikely that only you would be suffering with a Hotmail problem. Chances are that there would be hundreds, if not thousands, of users who would be affected and the company would be aware of the issues are working hard to correct them.
I have the SAME problem! I have a hotmail account and have been emailing my Mother for months and she also has a hotmail account. About a week ago, she has not been receiving any of my emails and I never get an error message and the messages are never returned. I have no idea how to fix this, nor does my Mother. We are on each other’s contact lists, so I don’t know how it would have been blocked.
I have also tried the Windows live forum but the moderators just run people in circles and wanting proof that no one can provide.
I have a similar Hotmail problem. The others receive my emails but I do not receive all the emails others write to me.
The ones I receive, are always 5 hours late. The support is not helping me! I really don’t know what to do.

I contacted the postmaster for hotmail and was told that it was very likely that the reason my Mother wasn’t able to receive my emails is that she accidently blocked me. It turns out that was the case. If you go to ‘options’ when you have your hotmail open, then click on ‘more options’, then go down to blocked senders. If the email address in question is in the blocked list, remove it and if needed add the address to the ‘safe list’. It worked for us.

Josh, you need to refer Holly’s comment – remove the emails from the ‘Blocked List’ and add then to the ‘Safe Senders List’.
For sometimes now people have been telling me thay sent e-mail to me but I have not been receiving it. Initially I thought maybe they getting the spelling of ID wrongly but later I discovered that was not the case because on my own I tried to send mail to my inbox from other people’s address yet it did not enter into my inbox. Please note I did not block any message from entering into my inbox
This too was happening to me. My mother would not receive any of my emails. Holly´s solution worked so I would advise trying that. I suppose it must be easy to accidentally block a sender…. Give it a try. I was surprised to see me blocked as my mother has only just started using hotmail.

I also seem to have this problem. Adding on from previous post: Options / More options / Filters and reporting. I noticed mine was set to filter level Exclusive and junk e-mail deleted Immediately. I wonder if email not listed in contacts and safe senders is getting deleted automatically?? I have changed the settings and will see things improve
Same problem here. I am not getting any emails! Not even Junk ones!! This has been going on for a week or so. My contacts list has also been mysteriously deleted!! People who email me say that they are not getting any undelivered notices or anything like that.
I am not receiving any emails either. I can send emails and they are received. I checked my blocked folder and filters but that isn’t the problem. Any other suggestions or help?

Me too! My MSN messenger list got wiped out, and I can’t recieve any emails now! What sucks is now my iTunes account and password aren’t working, and they can’t send me my information to my email because my email isn’t recieving it. And I spent quite a bit on applications, and apparently, they can’t do anything about it. I… am … so…. frustrated.
Monika, have you tried accessing your Hotmail email via the webmail interface instead of going via Messenger?

Same for me. My “Filters and reporting” settings had been changed to delete all emails from anyone not on my safe list.
Someone appears to have hacked into my account some time ago as everyone in my contact list was sent an email about some dodgy website I’d supposedly bought an iPhone from. Whoever/whatever hacked my account appears to have changed the settings at the same time.
I have had this happen 3 times this year! I have one live account that links all my other hotmail accounts together for ease of checking my mails! After not receiving mail for a few days I checked my safe senders and blocked list to find my other accounts in the blocked list, I thought it was odd and moved them to my safe senders, this has happened 2 more times since then? Haven’t found any solution apart from to check my blocked senders frequently!
woohoo, i had the same problem . Due to some malicious virus probabaly, My “Filters and reporting” settings had been changed to delete all emails from anyone not on my safe list. and my safe list was deleted,and all of my contacts from MSN messenger were deleted.
This is a virus, that is afffecting,any body not recieving emails should check this.

Hi all, I just noticed this same problem – emails not getting thru in the last five days – changed the junk filter setting from Exclusive to Standard and all’s well again. However – is there any way of getting back any emails that were sent to my Hotmail account during those five days, or are they gone forever??!? thx

I am not receiving any mails in my mail box from the last four days though I can send mails using the same account. The last mail I received was on 28 Oct. Some virus attack or hacking case? How can it be rectified?
I don’t know what to do… Since November 1st, I have not received emails in my Hotmail account. I can send emails, but I can’t receive emails. They don’t go to junk folder, they are not in my account. What should I do?

This actually seems to be a fairly widespread problem with hotmail. I would have to recommend switching to something else, at least for primary e-mail.
The same things happened to me, I am waiting on an important email to come to my Hotmail address and it not come through so I when on to my Gmail account and sent my Hotmail address an email and it wont come through, I could forget about it if the address wasn’t linked to my Youtube account
This is insane. I have also same problem. I have been using this particular Hotmail ID with the unique domain name. Hotmail had launched coolhotmail in 2007 and I chose one of the domain and now suddenly I am not able to receive any e mails… I can send e mails!! I don’t know what to do about this. This is really annoying, I hope Hotmail has any solution for this.

. this is not only disturbing but it is also allowing people that have no business knowing my personal life the chance to do so . if i respond to my mail it is sometimes sent from my personal hotmail account when it should be from my business account somebody nees to be fired
