Linus Pauling died on 19 August, 1994

American chemist, biochemist and peace activist regarded as one of the greatest scientist of all time. He is the founder of the fields of molecular biology and quantum chemistry.

Pauling is the only person to be awarded two unshared Nobel Prizes and the only one of the four to have won more than 2 Nobel Prize. He received the 1954 Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for his research into the nature of the chemical bond and its application to the elucidation of the structure of complex substances". For his work on nuclear disarmament, he was awarded the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize. Pauling authored over 1,200 papers and books.
