Apple had once ventured into the games console market with Bandai, a Japanese toy maker. They came up with a device that went on sale in Japan in 1995. The game console was named Pippin and was a failure.
John Wainwright was Amazon's very first customer. He bought Douglas Hofstadter's "Fluid Concepts And Creative Analogies: Computer Models Of The Fundamental Mechanisms Of Thought" for $27.95.
