The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was launched from the Space Shuttle Discovery on 24th April 1990. It wasn’t the first space telescope but was the largest and would prove to be the most versatile. It is estimated that the Hubble Space Telescope would remain operational for 40-50 years.
