Initially, two chewing gum packs were given as incentive to customer on purchase of baking powder. Wrigley realised that the freebies were more popular that the product being sold and started concentrating on the sale of chewing gum. FYI, a Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum pack was the first product to be sold using the barcode.
