Scottish chemist known for discovering nobel gases. He, along with Lord Rayleigh, received the 1904 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of argon. Ramsay went on to isolate other nobel gases – helium, neon, krypton and xenon. This lead to the periodic table being changed to include a new section.
