TRS-80 Model I desktop microcomputer was announced by Tandy Corporation on 3rd August 1977. It was one of the world’s first mass-produced personal computers and sold via Tandy’s Radio Shack stores. The TRS-80 was a big hit and sold 5 times more than the Apple II series.
The name of the personal computer is an abbreviation of Tandy/Radio Shack, Z-80 microprocessor.
