NeXTSTEP, the UNIX based operating system for the NeXT computer was released on 18th September 1989. NeXT Computers was founded by Steve Jobs after he resigned from Apple. The company was later acquired by Apple when Jobs rejoined his old company.
The World Wide Web was invented on NeXT computers running the NeXTSTEP operating system. The world’s first app store was also developed on NeXTSTEP.
