Michelangelo computer virus starts affecting computers

The Michelangelo virus began affecting computers on 6^th March 1992. The virus is so named because it activates on March 6, the birthday of the Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo; though there is no reference to the artist in the malicious program. The virus was discovered in Australia on 4^th February 1991. It infects DOS systems and operates at the BIOS level.
