Lotte Reiniger died on 19 June, 1981

German film director and animator who pioneered silhouette animation and created more than 40 films using this technique. Her 1926 film The Adventures of Prince Achmed is the oldest surviving feature-length animated film. Reiniger is also credited to have developed a predecessor to the first multi-plane camera.
