International Yoga Day: 21 June

International Yoga Day - 21 June

The International Yoga Day celebrates the practice of Yoga and meditation. It is observed every year on the 21st of June. The day spreads awareness about Yoga and why one should adopt it for physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

The idea for an International Yoga Day was proposed by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his speech at the UNGA on 27th September 2014. The United Nations soon picked on the idea and declared 21 June (the longest day in the northern hemisphere) as the International Yoga Day for promoting health, harmony and peace.
