George Westinghouse died on 12 March, 1914

American engineer, entrepreneur and inventor, best known for inventing and patenting the railway air brake. Westinghouse is regarded as a pioneer of the electrical industry (he got is first patent at the age of 19 years) and of being the main rival of Thomas Edison. George Westinghouse electricity distribution system was based on alternating current (promoted by Nikola Tesla) which was in direct contrast to Edison’s direct current system.
