George Stibitz Death Anniversary - 31 January 1995

George Stibitz died on 31 January, 1995

American mathematician famous for having developed a relay based calculator which used binary addition for the calculation. He was the first person to demonstrate remote operation of an electrical digital computer (through telegraph lines). Because of his Complex Number Calculator, Stibitz is recognised as one of the fathers of the first digital computer. He also the first to use the term "digital" to refer to calculating machinery.
