Elena Cornaro Piscopia becomes the first woman to be awarded a PhD – Doctorate of philosophy – on 25th June 1678. She graduated with the academic degree from the University of Padua.
Elena Piscopia was considered an expert musician and could play the harpsichord, the clavichord, the harp, and the violin.
