21 November, 1969

The first permanent Internet (ARPANET) link was established on the 21st November 1969. The link was set up between the IMPs at UCLA and Stanford Research Institute (SRI). The ARPANET, the predecessor of the Internet, was the network of the defence organisation ARPA which is regarded as the birth place of the Internet.
