Charles-Augustin de Coulomb died on 23 August, 1806

French physicist most famous for Coulomb’s law which defines the force between two static electrically charges particles. Coulomb is also known for his work on friction and the definition of the electrostatic force of attraction and repulsion. The SI unit of electric charge is named after him.
