The failed moon mission, Apollo 13, was launched from the Kennedy Space Center on 11th April 1970. It was the 7th manned mission and the 3rd intended to land on the moon. The craft developed problems after two days when an oxygen tank exploded. The crew arrived safely back to Earth a week later. Apollo 13, the Hollywood movie directed by Ron Howard, is based on the mission.
