Albert Hoffman, a Swiss scientist, accidentally discovered the hallucinogenic effects of LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) on 16th April 1943. Hoffman had synthesised the drug 5 years earlier. Such was the “trip” that after 3 days, he intentionally ingested the drug.
