Joseph Rotblat died on 31 August, 2005

Polish physicist and the only one who left the Manhattan Project on the grounds of conscience. His work prompted the development and ratification of the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. He was a signatory to the Russell-Einstein Manifesto and received the 1995 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts towards nuclear disarmament. Rotblat is also famous for proposing the Hippocratic Oath for scientists which is inspired by the Hippocratic Oath taken by physicians and doctors.
