A. A. Milne’s children’s book Winnie-the-Pooh was published for the first time on 14th October 1926. Milne published four volumes of the Pooh Bear stories all of which were illustrated by E. H. Shepard. The books were translated into many languages including one in Latin, Winnie ille Pu, which became the only Latin book to enter the The New York Times Best Seller list.
The hyphens in the name were dropped by the Disney company when the stories were adapted to features.
