Walt Disney World opened in Orlando, Florida on 1st October 1971. It was their second amusement park. The first Walt Disney World had opened in Anaheim, California on 17th July 1955.
Coincidentally, the famous Epcot Center in the Orlando park also opened on the same day in 1982.
