I’ve been using Hotmail for years but yesterday it developed a problem all of a sudden because of which I am not able to send any emails. The error I get is – “This account is currently blocked from sending messages. If you don’t think you’ve violated the Windows Live Terms of Use, please contact customer support.”
I am completely confused and don’t understand how I could have ever ‘violated the Windows Live Terms of Use’. Also I want to know how to contact Hotmail customer support because I need to unblock the account ASAP?

Typically, Hotmail throws the ‘This account is currently blocked from sending messages’ message when it believes that the subscriber has violated the Terms of Use (TOU); for example, by indulging in activities representative of spammers. Unfortunately, in most cases, people don’t realize that their seemingly harmless dispatching of email can trigger off the automated check on Hotmail. To understand why this happens and how to unblock the Hotmail account, read on.

Why do you get the ‘This account is currently blocked from sending messages’ on Hotmail?
Generally, when many of the messages are returned or not delivered, your Hotmail account will be blocked from sending further email. The same can happen if you send messages contains abusive language or words that are characteristic of junk email such as spam and phishing attacks. The other scenario is when many of the recipients mark your email as spam. [Don’t we all hate chain email?]
The Hotmail spam filters and the automated checks are simply algorithms – no one has ‘manually’ blocked your Hotmail account. So consistently violating the terms of use (though unknowingly) will block the Hotmail account and prevent you from sending email.
How to get your Hotmail account unblocked?
It is easy to contact Hotmail to get this sorted out and it has to be done properly – through the Windows Live Solutions Center (WLSC) web site. Click the link below or copy-paste it in a browser window.

First create a profile on WLSC after signing in with your Windows Live Hotmail ID. Once this is done, you’ll get the Error: “This account is currently blocked from sending messages.” page through which a request to unblock your Hotmail email account can be posted.
The restrictions on your account will be removed fairly quickly – one or two days. However, there is no guarantee that the Hotmail support staff will relent to your request! Some subscribers have had their Hotmail account blocked for good because they abused the service a lot (maybe without their knowledge).
How to avoid this problem on Hotmail?
The Hotmail staff recommends that you ensure:
- all contacts in your account list are active,
- all recipients and contacts are receiving your emails,
- and recipients are not marking your messages as spam.
And how can you do this? Reduce the number of messages you send to large groups and do not forward chain letters or jokes that may be identified as junk by the recipient’s filter. Also keep a track of undelivered messages, especially the ones sent to contacts – make sure the contacts information is correct!
We have used Hotmail for many years, never having a problem. Unfortunately for the last week we have been unable to send an email. Receiving them is fine. Could you please help with the problem. Many thanks.
Hello, I have been trying to send emails from my Hotmail account but when I sign in, I am been told that my account has been moved or deleted. How can I solve this problem? I do not have a PC so I use my mobile phone for every thing.
@Herion
I suggest trying to login at your Hotmail account from a computer – ask a friend to help you with this. If you still get the same error message then contact Hotmail staff via the Windows Live Solutions Center web site (WLSC – http://www.windowslivehelp.com/).
As far as I know, there are two ways your email account could have been deleted:
1. You’ve not used it for a long time (more than 90 days – refer how can my email address expire.
2. Someone’s hacked into your account and has intentionally deleted it.
Hello,
I have a problem for to validate account via phone. I have a message i don’t understand! Sorry for my english. Could you help me for success operation?
Thanks
@Lacour Alain
It seems you have been asked to validate your account via your phone. Please follow the instructions sent by Hotmail.
You get this error message because Microsoft is suspecting that you might be sending spams from your account. Or someone is using your account to send spams without your knowledge.

MSN have blocked my account and even when I told them personal details of emails/contacts that I have in my account, they still said that they couldn’t verify that I was the owner. I have tried emailing them since last Friday and now they are not answering any of my emails. They are very arrogant and unhelpful to deal with. I am only asking them how I can get details of flights etc. out of my account, which I need and they won’t even answer me. Needless to say, I won’t be recommending Hotmail to anyone in future.
Hi! I lost my account forever:

Messenger rectified this problem. I can send email now.
The Hotmail sign in page seems to block me out. I’m finding it very difficult to get to my email account.
