Telstar 1 communication satellite launched

Telstar 1 communication satellite was launched into orbit on 10^th July 1962 from Cape Canaveral. Put in an elliptical orbit from a Delta rocket, the craft was a result of a contract Bell Telephone Laboratories had with NASA.
