American computer scientist and programmer who co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne. Wozniak was solely responsible for the first two product of the company, the Apple I computer and the Apple II.
Wozniak was working at HP when he was approached by Jobs to start a company to manufacture computers. Jobs sold his Volkswagen Van and Wozniak his scientific calculator to provide the initial funds. Working from the bedroom of Job’s foster parents home, Wozniak built the first Apple product and sold 50 units of these to Paul Jay Terrell’s Byte Shop for $500 each.
Thus, contrary to popular belief, Apple wasn’t started in a garage but a bedroom! The house – 11161 Crist Drive, Los Altos (later changed to 2066 Crist Drive) – is now a sort of historic site.
