Soyuz 9 is launched by the Soviet Union. Andrian Nikolayev and Vitali Sevastyanov were the two member crew aboard the spacecraft which reached the orbit of the Earth and remained there for 18 days.
The Soyuz 9 helped researchers in understanding the effects of long-term weightlessness on humans.
