Randolph Caldecott died on 12 February, 1886

English artist and illustrator known for Three Jovial Huntsmen, The House That Jack Built, A Frog He Would A-Wooing Go and The Diverting History of John Gilpin. The Caldecott Medal, an award given for the "most distinguished American picture book for children", is named after him.
