On 24th August 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) changed the definition of the planet which meant that Pluto was now relegated to a dwarf planet status.

Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh on 18th February 1930 and named by 11-year old Venetia Burney.
