Prolific American inventor who held close to 300 worldwide patents. He is best known for being a pioneer in the electronic television field and was the first to demonstrate this system. The all-electronic image pickup device (video camera tube), the image dissector and the Farnsworth–Hirsch fusor (small nuclear fusion device) are some of his famous inventions.
Farnsworth is also credited to have developed a fully functional television system with receiver and camera which he commercialised.
