Peter Higgs Birthday

British theoretical physicist and winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physics for proposing the W and Z bosons. The Higgs mechanism that explains the origin of mass of elementary particles was also put forward by other scientists and predicts the existence of a new particle, the Higgs boson. The quest for the particle became the goal of particle physicists and on 14^th March 2013, its existence was confirmed by researchers at CERN.
