On 7th November 1492, a meteorite landed around noon at in a wheat field in Ensisheim, Alsace, France. The Ensisheim meteorite, as it has come to be called, is the oldest for which we have a known date of impact.
The meteorite weighed about 127 kilograms and created a 1 meter hole when it struck Earth. The fall of the meteorite was observed by many, some 150 kilometres away.
