On 14th September 1959, the Soviet Union’s Luna 2 craft crashed on the moon. It becomes the first man-made object to reach the natural satellite of earth.
Soviet Union’s Luna 1 had, earlier that year, reached the vicinity of the moon and became the first man-made object to orbit the sun.
