Louis Lumière was born on 5 October, 1864

French scientist regarded as the world’s first filmmaker along with his brother Auguste Lumière. The brothers are credited to have filmed the world’s first movie, Sortie de l’usine Lumière de Lyon (1895) and to have given birth to cinema through their patented cinematograph which allowed viewing by multiple people in contrast to Thomas Edison’s kinetoscope.
