In an attempt to push sales of its digital books, Amazon, offers the Kindle application which runs on a variety of platforms, both desktop and mobile. This is in addition to their hardware Kindle e-book readers.
As of January 8, 2015, App developers have earned $25 billion which translates to almost $11 billion for Apple - the company takes 30% of the total revenue.
