How do I check my Gmail email?

After visiting, my son left for a trip to Europe. He had been using my computer past two days. Now I can’t log in at my email. Whenever I open Chrome and go to Gmail, it shows his account. How can I check my Gmail email?

Hey Loreen, from what I gather, your son logged on to his Gmail account using Chrome web browser and saved his account information on the computer. Now whenever you launch Gmail, the service shows the account which was last used. This is not a serious issue at all.

You can quickly regain access of your account and check Gmail email once again. And all this can be done in a few mouse clicks. Here is how you go about it.

1. In the open Gmail window, move the mouse cursor over the icon at the top-right. This icon may be a photo/picture as in the image below.

   

2. Click on this icon to bring up a menu with all the accounts that are stored on the system. For instance, in the image below, you will see two accounts. You should see your account listed here. If not, read section below.

   

3. Simply click on your account to log in at Gmail.

What if your account isn’t in the list?

There can be two scenarios if your account isn’t listed. Your son has logged your out, or he has removed your account information. I don’t think he would have done the latter. In either case, there is no need to fret. You can still get to check your Gmail account.

Click on the Add Account button in the menu.

This should bring up a page similar to the one below in which all the accounts are listed. Select yours and enter the password if required.

However, if the amount wasn’t listed, you need to set it up again. Click Add account button, enter the username and subsequently the password in the next screen. Your Gmail account will now be displayed.
If prompted, remember to save the password of your account for quicker access next time.
