Hindenburg catches fire – 36 people killed

6 May, 1937

Hindenburg caught fire as it attempted to dock at Lakehurst, New Jersey on 6th May 1937. The German zeppelin was destroyed in a minute and killed 35 out of the 97 people on board. A ground worker was also killed taking the tally to 36.
