The Golden Gate Bridge opened on 27th May 1937 in San Francisco. The suspension bridge is 1.6 kilometres long and has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The construction of the Golden Gate Bridge had begun on 5th January 1933.
