Gmail on cell phone

My friend’s kids are crazy about the games on his iPhone. I’m thinking of purchasing one myself. Will I be able to get Gmail on this cell phone? Could you let me know if this would be a good idea?

The iPhone from Apple is a stupendous device for browsing the web. As per the mobile web browser statistics, the iPhone is the leader in mobile browsing. Blackberry users feel that their device is better when it comes to emailing, but I put my money on the Apple’s mobile device.

I’ve owned an iPhone for almost 2 years now and have been thoroughly satisfied. In truth, I don’t use my cell phone for email. Like Russ’s friend, my iPhone is mostly with the kids… though I do spend a good amount of time browsing the web with it. Anyway, setting up Gmail on this cell phone is extremely simple and here is how you do it.

Add the Gmail email account on your cell phone (iPhone)

The step by step instructions to add Gmail to the cell phone are below and if you get confused, please refer the screenshots.

1. Tap the “Settings” icon – [Slide 1].
2. Load the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars“; you may need to scroll down a little – [Slide 2].
3. In the slide [#3] you’ll see that I already have an account set up – Yahoo email on my cell phone. Tap “Add Account” to set up your Gmail email account – [Slide 3].
4. FYI, you can add several email accounts on the iPhone. Move to the Gmail section – [Slide 4].
5. A very short form awaits you. Enter your name, the full Gmail email address and the password. You can also enter a descriptive phrase – [Slides 5, 6 and 7].
6. Confirm all what you have entered is correct and tap the “Save button. The mobile software will now connect to your Gmail account and verify the login details – [Slide 8].
7. On successful verification, you’ll get the Gmail account on your cell phone – [Slide 9].
8. Go to the “Mail” section – [Slide 10].
9. You’ll see the Gmail email account listed along with the rest (if any) – [Slide 11].
10. When you move to this account, the Inbox and the folders will begin to load on your cell phone – [Slides 11 and 12].
11. To check the Gmail email messages, tap “Inbox” – [Slide 13].
12. The list of emails will be displayed – [Slide 14].

Congratulations! You have successfully been able to set up the account and now have Gmail on your cell phone. By the way, for those who have cell phones of other makes, there would be a different way to configure the Gmail account on the device. If not, Google provides a simple solution – simply login at the Gmail mobile site via the native web browser on the cell phone – m.gmail.com . This is truly email-on-the-go!
