Belgian physicist and astronomer who first postulated the expanding nature of the universe. As per Lemaître’s theory, the universe arose from a “primeval atom” (“Cosmic Egg”) and has been expanding since the Big Bang. The idea is wrongly attributed to American astronomer Edwin Hubble and has been referred to as Hubble’s Law.
