Swiss electrical engineer and the inventor of the hook and loop fastener which we commonly, and mistakenly, refer to as Velcro. As per the company, there is no such thing as velcro – it is the name of the firm and not the product. This is to prevent the term from becoming generic and the company losing its trademark.
