The first traffic ticket in the US was issued on 20th May 1899 to Jacob German, a taxi driver in New York City. The ticket was for speeding as German was driving 12 miles per hour on Lexington Street.
On a related note, the world’s first speeding ticket was issued on 28th January 1896 to Walter Arnold of Kent, UK.
